April 2020: Unemployment by Industry

Year-over-year we see some significant changes across many core industries - with construction and business services most impacted. Essential services like transportation and government show much less significant fluctuations.

Results released by the US Bureau of Labor Statistics show that every industry has been impacted with a decrease in employment (and therefor a rise in unemployment) when comparing year-over-year statistics.

Month by month employment was fairly consistent from April 2019 - January 2020, following which we saw major spikes in unemployment which reached a peak in April 2020 with record breaking highs.
