About the Role
The Shipping/Warehouse Manager is responsible for maintaining the smooth flow of goods, ensuring safety, and achieving operational efficiency.
Key Activities
Led and managed a team of 20 hourly employees, including forklift drivers/loaders, bander operators, and clerical staff, within a unionized environment.
Oversee day-to-day shipping and receiving operations, including inventory management, safety compliance, load quality, planning of loads, dispatch scheduling, and dock times.
Collaborate with internal teams, including the Customer Service Manager, Production Supervisors, Maintenance Supervisor, Planner/Scheduler, and Controller, to ensure seamless operations.
Train, mentor, and develop employees to promote efficiency, retention, and adherence to safety protocols.
Maintain compliance with OSHA standards, including conducting required training and certifications such as forklift training.
Monitor and control shipping costs within budgetary constraints.
Ensure timely and accurate regional deliveries by coordinating with third-party logistics (3PL) providers; oversee any CDL drivers servicing the plant.
Implement and enforce safety and operational best practices across all shifts.
Optimize processes to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and improve service quality.
Preferred Skills
Certifications in Train the Trainer and OSHA forklift training are preferred.
Education and Experience
5+ years of shipping and receiving experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
Experience managing teams in a unionized setting is strongly preferred.
Associate degree in Business or a related field is desired but not required.
