About the Role

The Quality Engineer will develop relationships with manufacturing that foster a positive partnership, facilitate resolution of customers' and internal issues, and drive systems, processes, and continuous improvement.

Key Activities

  • Contributes effectively toward team goals, exhibits influence within a work group, and continues to develop proficiency in the competency areas critical to success in the role.

  • Involvement in the specification, implementation, testing, and release of products.

  • Lead cross-functional teams for root cause analysis and corrective actions. (5 Why and 8D)

  • Lead continuous improvement project teams and execute changes and improvements to the quality management system.

  • Lead quality APQP/PPAP initiatives with new or changed products for manufacturing quality.

  • Coordinates the development of verification and system validation plans from a variety of inputs to identify failure modes while managing risk and relative priority; evaluates analytical and experimental test results following engineering principles to verify that products meet internal technical requirements and to validate those solutions meet customer needs; produces recommendations with technical documentation to support product decisions.

  • Resolve quality issues with suppliers and customers. Determine the nature of the nonconformance, identify responsibility, and negotiate a mutually acceptable return or rework of the product while preserving the supplier and customer relationship.

  • Identify, develop, and implement systems and processes that will assure product conformance to specifications, including developing product specifications, procedures, and test methods as required.

  • Develop SOPs for company processes.

  • Participate in internal and external quality systems audits as needed.

  • Participate in SQF and ISO certifications on-site audits.

Preferred Skills

  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence

  • Basic computer skills (Excel and Word)

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree or Minimum of 10 years experience as a Quality Engineer in a manufacturing environment.

  • APQP/PPAP

  • Supervisory experience
