About the Role
The National Sales Director will open new retail geographies, manage key accounts, and build partnerships with regional and national food buyers.
Key Activities
Market Expansion: Strategically identify, plan, and develop new retail geographies outside of the Midwest, targeting regional grocery chains and independent retailers with 10 to 100 store locations.
Account Management: Cultivate and manage relationships with key accounts, including regional and national food buyers, ensuring alignment on growth objectives, promotional support, and category expansion.
Sales Strategy Development: Develop and implement sales strategies tailored to diverse markets and customer needs, focusing on gaining placement in high-growth areas and optimizing product assortment and availability.
Pricing and Competitive Positioning: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to establish competitive pricing strategies, promotional plans, and product positioning that align with market demands and brand standards.
Team Collaboration: Work closely with marketing, operations, and supply chain teams to ensure alignment in product availability, merchandising support, and promotional execution across new territories.
Reporting and Analytics: Track and analyze sales metrics, market trends, and customer feedback to drive data-informed decisions and improve sales performance and forecasting accuracy.
Preferred Skills
Strong understanding of market analysis, pricing, and competitive positioning strategies.
Education and Experience
10+ years of proven success in branded food sales, with a strong preference for experience in salty snacks, deli, and frozen food categories.
A track record of expanding sales into new geographies, particularly in CPG - existing relationships with retailers (10 -100 stores)
Expertise in managing key accounts, pricing strategies, and competitive positioning.
