About the Role
The Sales Manager will be leading the efforts to profitably grow business with major national and regional chains by developing the framework, strategy, objectives, and goals to secure new accounts and by improving share and value mix with existing customers.
Key Activities
Create a new model and framework in the regional/national chain market; managing the sales process, prospecting, contract negotiation, and proposals, ensuring business financial objectives are met.
Develop and execute market plans, including strategic sales objectives and tactical, plans to meet annual sales targets.
Develop sales and engagement strategies for key national accounts, regional accounts, and other potential customers.
Prepare individual, tailored pricing quotes and sales contracts.
Prepare and present regular updates, reports on sales metrics, and market intel to Ownership of the company.
Collaborate with Marketing, Operations Management, Technical Services, and Customer Service to prospect and develop new opportunities to grow market share.
Perform both prospecting and account management tasks, such as customer insight gathering, price intelligence, forecasting, customer development planning, customer service delivery, and contract/price management.
Plan and attend meetings and events, including industry trade shows, to generate new business opportunities.
Establish & maintain a network of industry contracts that lead to sales.
Develop and deliver sales presentations and close sales professionally and effectively.
Manage a small team of remote sales professionals, training developing, and managing processes, KPIs, and deliverables.
Preferred Skills
Strong planning skills to run multiple projects and/or initiatives at a time by driving alignment across stakeholders, creating plans for the work to be completed and delegating work appropriately to balance own and team’s workload
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Business or related field and 10+ years’ experience in successful sales leadership and empowerment (food (bakery) background would be an asset).
Strong teamwork ethic, positive proactive flexible attitude with the ability to take complete ownership of responsibilities.
Possess strategic thinking (e.g., analyzing and applying a broad organizational and business perspective to identify and maintain focus on key drivers of current and future organizational performance).
