About the Role

The Director of Manufacturing Operations will be responsible for providing oversight, guidance and leadership to the Production Management team to assure the on-time execution of daily schedules, maintain the strictest quality requirements while meeting and improving budgeted costs.

Key Activities

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the Pre-Press, Sheetfed Lithography, Digital Printing, Finishing, Bindery, Assembly, Mailing, Buyout and Shipping departments.

  • Collaborate with Scheduling to define concise daily Production Schedules for each department that support the overall Schedule Commitments for the plant.

  • Participate in creating Training and Development programs and lead their implementations

  • Provide effective operational and support plans for your employees by providing clear objectives, tools and resources needed to succeed and continual review for feedback.

  • Implement Continuous Improvement through relentless focus on corrective, preventive actions using process improvements, KPI’s, TPM’s (Total Productive Manufacturing) and improved quality systems and building this philosophy throughout the organization.

  • Develop and manage a comprehensive Equipment Preventive Maintenance Program.

  • Champion and participate in all company Safety and LEAN programs.

  • Improve safety recordable rate through heightened awareness, safety audits and improvements in housekeeping.

  • Improve the customer experience by assuring product quality, reducing costs and exceeding customer expectations.

  • Work Closely with Project Management and Sales on job updates and scheduling.

  • Must participate with leadership in developing and tracking KPIs for all areas of your responsibility Special Notes:

  • Prepress, Press, Finishing, and Bindery have CA leadership that you can lean on to help manage teams and direction during on-boarding.

  • Bi-weekly meetings with the President and VP of Operations will occur for support and tracking progress.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with a Print Industry ERP system – Pace is a plus.

  • Knowledgeable with Microsoft Suite.

  • Exposure to ISO certification a plus.

Education and Experience

  • B.S., Degree in Print Management preferred or equivalent business experience and training.

  • At least 10 years of progressive pertinent experience with progressive responsibility managing staff and resources.

  • Must have broad knowledge of the Commercial Printing, Bindery and Finishing.
