About the Role
The Production Planner will be responsible for creating schedules and coordinate materials and workforce to build our products on-time, and at the highest level of quality. The role includes evaluation and analysis of data, coordination with sales, production and materials teams, and resolving issues to ensure delivery of finished goods and service product.
Key Activities
Create daily, weekly and monthly build schedules for the production lines in manufacturing plant and depot level service centers.
Working directly with Customer Service, Sales Operations, Sales, Product Management and Operations Management to determine appropriate production schedules that best meet customer and sales demand.
Based on factors such as raw material availability, production line capacity, standard lead time commitments, on time delivery, and emergent needs of the business both from a sales operations and production operations perspective, be the direct interface for the Sales, Inventory, Operations, and Production (SIOP) forecast inputs and the output of a production operations schedule.
Forecast and plan finished goods to fulfill WW customer demand, while ensuring tight alignment to reducing OH inventory to achieve NWC targets.
Help resolve and countermeasure line-down situations
Work directly with purchasing / procurement team to ensure best practices and greatest leverage in sourcing from low cost regions, supplier assessment and management, etc
Support and sustain Materials Lean Conversion by implementing Kanban, just-in-time, postponement and other materials strategies to reduce FG and WIP inventory while improving delivery to our customers
Manage the control of inventory through cycle-counts and root cause analysis of discrepancies
Establish and maintain materials 5S (Kanban card management, labeling, Oracle audits, etc)
Working with production/machine shop, address issues which affect quality, inventory, and cost and delivery requirements/performance.
Plan, Review and Evaluate Work Orders within ERP.
Monitors daily order entry reports and communicates scheduling problems and concerns to Management.
Facilitate daily production meetings. Track shortages and run shortage meetings with procurement team. Track material shortage using Excel for work-orders, Kits, sub-assemblies & whole tool based on bill-of-material or drawings or configuration. Highlight to management critical part shortages that will jeopardize ship schedule.
Preferred Skills
Bachelor’s degree in business; manufacturing supply chain or directly related field a plus
APICS or CPIM certification a plus
Education and Experience
2 to 5 years of procurement, production raw materials planning, or analyst experience in a manufacturing environment.
1 to 3 years of advance planning (finished goods / final product) experience.
Proven ability to problem solve complex issues that arise from inventory, capacity and / or ERP systems.
Demonstrated ability to be a Continuous Improvement change agent a must
